Abstract: Antioxidants play an increasingly important role in the development of effective anti-ageing formulations. Cosmetic companies expect more stable, effective and safe ingredients. Consumers expect fast and visible results. To slow skin aging and partially reverse it, The delivery systems of the ingredients become the main sector of progress in the formulation of new cosmetics. The research has been mainly conducted in high added value actives (like SOD, resveretrol) which are very powerful but instable actives. Studies showes these new delivery systems offer particulary a more effective solution for the skin aging resulting from the photoaging. New vehicles like liposomes and nanoparticles open the door for new generations of antioxidants with enhanced bioavailability and very stable activity, combined with a controlled and sustained release of actives into the epidermis, that can repare and protect the cell.
